This position is responsible for the management of all aspects of several manufacturing units within a $250 million aerospace manufacturing business which is driven to success using rigorous daily operational measurement matrixes. This position which reports to a Business Unit Manager.


Job Function:

Oversee the efficient operation of a 100 employee quality operation including dimensional inspection, metallurgical testing and NDT departments.  These areas provide quality control support to a highly engineered aerospace fastener operation.  The position must possess strong leadership attributes, a continuous improvement mindset, as well as an aptitude for technical applications and specifications.

Responsibilities:

Lead the Quality Operation to continuous improvement utilizing 5S, Lean, Six Sigma and advanced metric evaluation and analysis.

Develop subordinate team in areas incorporating world class management techniques and tools for continuous improvement.

Coordinate the assignment of work and personnel to achieve maximum efficiency to meet established daily cost and throughput targets in multiple quality departments.  Maintain daily work schedules and make adjustments to compensate for changes in production requirements.

Administer company policies and regulations.  Interview, hire, grant increases, promote, counsel, layoff, train, transfer and evaluate performance of subordinates in order to improve the efficiency of the quality team.

Supervise and assist subordinates in the interpretation of blueprints and specifications, and the use of testing techniques.

Coordinate the training/cross-training of subordinates in the proper methods and procedures for the assigned areas.

Assist in expediting work and resolving any complex problems that arise.  Confer with Engineering on problems concerning specifications interpretation. 

Lead compliance efforts in areas of responsibility utilizing technical resources to meet/exceed expectations for audits conducted by customers, NADCAP and AS9100 accreditation. 

Qualifications:

B. S. in Mechanical, Metallurgical or Industrial Engineering or other technical equivalent. 10 plus years in plant management capacity responsible for multiple functions (Operations/Scheduling/Engineering) and 75 employees.  Experience utilizing Six Sigma methods and Lean Manufacturing concepts.  Excellent written and verbal communications skills as well as strong computer proficiency in excel, etc.  Must function well in a professional environment as well as on the shop floor with manufacturing employees.
