Job Description
Risk Services, Operations Asia Pacific provides a full and dedicated support to the Global Banking Markets business. The team has responsibility for managing internal controls in Operations across Asia Pacific. The overall function of this team includes:
- Drive the control agenda for GBM Operations in Asia Pacific Provide management with a view of key developments in controls, best practices, upcoming regulatory requirements that may impact Operations
- Assess and manage the control environment of each GBM Operations function by through various tools such as Control Assessment, SOX testing, KRIs, Risk Issues and Incident Management, branch/ad hoc reviews and Business Continuity Plan
- Provide timely reports to Operations senior management to communicate the status of the control environment in the region in a holistic manner, and to influence stakeholders to take the necessary corrective actions
Requirements
- Understanding of operational risk management
- Understanding of internal control processes
- Strong knowledge of investment banking products and processes
Responsibilities
1) Internal Effectiveness
- Assess the control environment of each GBM Operations function by evaluating their KRIs, Control Assessments, latest developments etc
- Effective manage the Incident Reporting and GNEP process ensuring that the issues raised are factual, root causes are clearly identified, and clear action points are agreed
- Ensure that the Quarterly Self Assessment and SOX testing requirements are completed on a timely basis. Represent Operations at the quarterly SOX testing meetings
- Continually monitors changes in the business to provide robust procedures for existing and new processes
- Undertake ad-hoc investigations and/or business reviews, where the need arises
- Maintain a strong relationship with the Internal Audit / External Audit / Regulators, and to manage their process during the period of their engagement.
- Undertake a review of role migration from/to Asia Pacific, from a controls perspective
2) Customer
- Develop relationships with the businesses to help ensure Operations deliver and provide the best possible operational control environment
- Roll out controls initiatives regionally by working together with the functional teams
- Review NPAPs and provide feedback to Head-Controls to support the sign-off process.
- Propose clear workplan for the year, and maintain appropriate progress report of BAU and project responsibilities for reporting to stakeholders
- Maintain open and effective communication channels with direct reports, key stakeholders and other colleagues regionally and globally
3. People
- Influence control changes within GBM Operations
- Promote control awareness via regular controls forums, workshops and training
- Employ creative and innovative approaches to create awareness of controls, policies and operations risks
- Build on and develop relationships including those in departments outside of GBM Operations to support the GBM business globally
