The SP Structured Finance team is presently seeking an Associate (Operations Specialist) to join our Structured Finance practice in our Ratings Operations Group. The Operations Associate is a critical member of the Structured Finance Ratings Operations team whose responsibility is to analyze, develop, implement and monitor business processes related to analytic and regulatory functions and requirements and to quantify business case scenarios for new Structured Finance ratings projects.

This position is based in NYC at the 55 Water Street location. Key responsibilities will include the following:

• Under the direction of Director of Operations and working closely with project teams, plan, analyze, develop and implement process changes across ratings businesses. Examples include:
• Work on specific projects as defined by business leadership by facilitating business input sessions, applying critical thinking, process design, and communicating solutions.
• Gather information; perform qualitative and quantitative analysis to derive root causes of business related problems with a focus on process improvement and risk mitigation.
• Write business procedures, training materials, and perform other implementation related tasks.
• Contribute to project rollout plan and identify associated risks.
• Synthesize analysis performed and draft recommendations.
• Create and deliver process improvement metrics for ratings business to track process transformations.
• As immediate operational challenges are identified, provide problem-solving support.

Skills

Qualifications include but are not limited to the following:

• Experience working in a regulated industry and broad exposure to the capital markets and financial services industry.
• Ability to work effectively within the organization's complex decision making and organizational structures.
• Ability to map process flows for business processes. Knowledge of Six Sigma/DMAIC a plus.
• Possess the ability to think analytically, organize effectively and possess strong problem-solving skills.
• Skilled in conducting research, gathering a variety of internal and external information and synthesizing this information into a cohesive and concise document.
• Strong technical skills with Visio, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and a customer-service orientation.
• Must be confident, calm under pressure and possess influencing skills.
• Must be able to work effectively in a team-oriented, global, and multi-cultural environment.
