Operations Supervisor Job in Toronto M6a1z1, Ontario Canada

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is accountable for the efficient operation of the haulage division at theToronto location.

 

Reporting to this position are the dispatchers, drivers and helpers.  Start time is  4:00 a.m.

 

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Ø      Monitor and manage operational personnel and evaluate performance;

 

Ø      Hire, train and orient new drivers and helpers and help with the administration of new hires.

 

Ø      Ensure all routes are operated in the most cost efficient manner;

 

Ø      Implement Trux 7 mapping functionality across dispatch;

 

Ø      Schedule Driver, dispatch vacations ensuring that there is no reduction in Customer Service;

 

Ø      Maximize material being dumped at Orenda/Columbus and determine optimal dump sites for routes not using internal sites;

 

Ø      Achieve performance levels in accordance with all current and future Operational Metrics ;

 

Ø      Monitor and analyze Customer service issues to ensure 100%customer satisfaction is achieved;

 

Ø      Responsible for the Company’s Operations and Safety on all Customer Sites / premises

 


 

 

 

Ø      Monitor and control driver hours to reduce overtime and comply with all applicable legislation;

 

Ø      Work in conjunction with Maintenance department to ensure awareness of available equipment. E.g. repairs, Off-road truck as well as optimum utilization of available vehicles;

 

Ø      Assist in investigation and review all workplace accidents and injuries, ensuring all applicable reports, eg. WSIB, Accident Investigation are complete and accurate as assigned by Operations Manager;

 

Ø      Familiarity with Ministry of Transportation rules regulations in relation to the Waste Haulage industry;

 

Ø      Analyze all facets of the haulage and recycling operations for efficiency  and cost improvement;

 

Ø      Assist in preparation of driver payroll on a weekly basis;

 

Ø      Management representative on the Joint Health Safety Committee;

 

Ø      Responsible for effective Employee relations;

 

Ø      Monitor drivers in field to ensure efficient and safe driving practices;

 

Ø      May be required to drive route occasionally and relieve dispatch

 

Ø      Complete all other tasks and projects, as assigned by the Operations Manager.

 

 MUST have Waste Industry experience!
