Department Overview:
The Global Infrastructure and Project Finance Group (GIG) is responsible for the credit ratings of companies mainly in the transportation, energy, and social infrastructure sectors. Globally, GIG consists of around 55 analysts with backgrounds particularly in corporate finance, structured finance, project finance and public finance.
The portfolio includes public ratings and private credit opinions covering a variety of transaction types (project finance, corporate finance and structured finance). The assets include airports, toll roads, ports, rail infrastructure, power plants, oil and gas facilities, wind and solar parks, schools and hospitals. The team’s output consists mainly of annual surveillance reviews, new ratings and sector research reports which are published primarily through Fitch’s website. The senior analysts present regularly to market participants at conferences and other events.
Job description:
The role of Operations Support Analyst is to provide support to GIG’s Global Operations Manager and to Team Heads and Analysts. There will also be a small component of conventional administrative duties.
Supporting the Global Operations Manager (50%)
- Running and checking reports extracted from Fitch’s database systems as part of ongoing system development and auditing processes
- Handling data and producing reports for senior management
- Assisting analysts with system related queries
- Completing quality assurance sheets to monitor compliance as well as keeping track of resolutions
Supporting Team Heads Analysts (40%)
- Coordinating the committee calendar and managing the distribution of committee documents
- Sending weekly reports to team heads with ratings and opinions due for review
- Monitoring central email in-boxes and ensuring that incoming information is notified to the relevant analyst
- Setting up new agents, issuers and securities in the relevant applications
- Inputting committee ratings data into the relevant systems
General Administration (10%)
- General administration including coordinating travel plans, organising meetings, maintaining contact lists and processing expenses
Person Specification:
- Experience of working in an Operational Support or Data Management role
- Intermediate level in Excel (including statistical, logical, lookup and reference formulas, constructing formatting various charts etc)
- Ability to understand data and extract relevant elements from it, including identifying errors and checking for any inconsistencies
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Strong attention to detail
- Responsive, proactive and reliable
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to understand and comply with Fitch’s policies and procedures and to develop a basic understanding of what Fitch does and how these procedures effect the wider business
