Operations Support Manager - WMSS (Los Angeles area)

Waste Management Sustainability Services is seeking a Operations Support Manager to serve as support person for our Western Territory. The position is based out of Los Angeles, CA. Activities include; implementation of new contracts; assisting with special projects; and staffing existing contracts as needed. Position may also assist Business Development and Territory/Vertical Managers with site walks, proposal development, and contract renewals. Significant travel is required (75%+). Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Coordinate logistics for transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste from client site including profiling, scheduling, manifesting and physically loading bulk and drum loads. Proper application of RCRA TSCA regulations to assist in completing waste profiles, to provide guidance on waste characterization analysis and to properly complete container labels and waste shipment documents Assist in the development of a facility waste management plan including identification and implementation of minimization and recycling opportunities, establishing and administering satellite accumulation areas, developing waste collection programs, and management of storage areas. Consult with client and prospective clients to identify, design and implement cost saving opportunities, best practices and proposals. Provide weekly summary reports to the customer and WM. This includes monthly, quarterly and annual reporting. Ensure compliance with client and government regulations by performing necessary inspections and reporting. Resolve all issues in a timely manner. Administer client and vendor financial obligations including invoicing, reporting and contracts. Responsible for assisting with the compliant implementation and management of all WM Programs, Policies and Procedures at their assigned WMSS location(s).(i.e. EMS,ISO and HS programs, policies and procedures). Promote culture of safety by ensuring site personnel are properly trained to perform assigned duties and comply with safety, environmental, federal, state local regulations. The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is the management of non-supervisory employees. This includes: Direct supervision of approximately 0 to 5 full-time operations level employees Education and Experience: Required: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences/Accounting/Business or five plus years experience with responsibility in project/business management. Three years of experience in a supervisory level position. Environmental or services industry experience is required. Preferred: Bachelors in Environmental Engineering or advanced degree in related field (Accounting, Environmental Sciences, Sustainability Solutions). Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements: Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) is preferred.
