POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Observes plant operation to ensure continuous control over the environmental elements necessary for good patient care; specifically around temperature control, humidity control, water purity and the proper functioning of life sustaining apparatus. Repairs machinery and equipment in all mechanical rooms for proper operations. Operates and maintains building and equipment in safe operating conditions, reporting deficiencies to proper authorities/departments. Complies with UHS and departmental policies and procedures.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required. Completion of high school vocational curriculums with an emphasis on mechanical skills is preferred. Ability to speak, read, and write English is required. Ability to follow simple oral and written directives is required. At least four year's experience in facilities maintenance work, inclusive of hands on preventive and corrective repairs to: air handlers, facility management systems, pneumatic and electronic controls, fans, motors, and pumps, water softeners and associated equipment is required. Five years experience in facilities maintenance, within a facility of not less than 500,000 square feet, with at least one year of this experience within a hospital environment and a good knowledge of centrifugal, reciprocating and screw chillers and Energy Plant Operations is preferred.
