OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN

We are currently looking for a full time experienced Ophthalmic Tech in our brand new Louisville, KY opening in May whose responsibilities will include:
Position Responsibilities
• Maintain and stock all exam rooms.
• Clean and maintain all instruments.
• Order supplies as needed.
• Prepare patients for examination.
• Take patient history, visual acuity and glaucoma tests.
• May take notes and document medical data while physician is examining patient.
• Write out necessary prescriptions.
• Fill out fee slips with proper diagnosis and charges.
• Administer eye drops and give injections under physician supervision
• Collect and calculate diagnostic data: K readings, refraction, visual fields, PAM (Potential Acuity Meter).
• Assist physician in minor office surgery.
• Instruct, deliver and order contact lenses.
• Answer and/or return patient telephone calls.
• When needed, assist administrative staff by answering telephones and making appointments.
• Will conform to all applicable HIPAA, billing compliance and safety requirements.
Experience and Position Requirements
• Graduate of Ophthalmic Technician Course or a certified equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years of related/direct experience
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to interact with patients/physicians
• Versatile skills to act independently and also in a highly effective cross trained team setting
• Excellent accuracy skills and attention to detail
• Highly competent verbal and written communication skills, along with advanced PC skills (using MS Office Suite)
• A.S. degree in a related area preferred
