Job Overview:

Technical leadership position exists to provide Oracle application DBA expertise to both the PeopleSoft (PS) HR and Finance systems and teams as well as responsibility for the management and oversight of the PeopleSoft HR Infrastructure and System Administration resources and deliverables. This role works in collaboration with the PeopleSoft systems teams, management, and RE Technology Services, and others as appropriate, to deliver enterprise and system level consulting on PeopleSoft software architecture, design, and strategic direction as well as Oracle database and application tuning, performance monitoring, capacity planning, database-level security, etc.

 

Job Description for Oracle Applications Database Administrator:

The Oracle Application Database Administrator will provide installation and support for deployed databases based upon the Oracle 11i E-business suite tightly integrated with Oracle Single-Sign-On, Discoverer, Oracle Olite, OC4J, RMAN and Grid Control technologies. This individual will be involved in planning, implementing, and upgrading the Oracle 11i infrastructure, sizing for multiple environments, applying of Oracle patches, implementing and maintaining database and application security, performing daily backups and recovery of the database in the event of any data corruption.  This individual provides hands-on technical leadership and direction to the technology team, understands business challenges and translates them into process/technical solutions.

Basic Requirements:

-        Active Security Clearance (preferred), minimum at the Secret level, or the ability to obtain via a successfully adjudicated background investigation

-        Agree to release their certification qualification(s) to the Department of Defense

-        Be a US Citizen

-        Have a valid US Passport or be able to obtain one prior to start of employment

-        Information Assurance Workforce (IAWF) certifications for IAT Level II (Security+)

Skill Set:

-        Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or equivalent

-        7+ years experience required including previous PeopleSoft HR implementation(s)

-        Significant understanding and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the database management field

-        Knowledge of best practices related to security, performance, and disaster recovery

-        Strong troubleshooting skills within and outside database environment

-        Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of database internals and data structures

-        Solid understanding of various business practices and process flows

-        Knowledge of Engineering methodology, Software Engineering principle and Application design

-        Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills (Required)

-        Proven ability to work independently and manage one’s time (Required)

-        Proven ability to lead major technical project design, engineering and integration efforts with strong attention to detail

Specific Responsibilities:

-        Provides Oracle Application DBA technical expertise, delivery and thought leadership within the PeopleSoft HR, Portal and Finance Application suites, version 9.0 .

-        Manages the PeopleSoft HR-related Infrastructure; all facets from sizing to ongoing maintenance.

-        Manages PeopleSoft HR System Administration activities with resource oversight.

-        Acts as the primary contact for PeopleSoft HR technical strategy and vision setting in the HR Infrastructure space.

-        Manages the procurement lifecycle including the research and associated sizings with the purchase of PeopleSoft hardware.

-        Ensures the PeopleSoft HR engineering teams, PeopleSoft domain technical experts and the PeopleSoft System Administration function are working in harmony.

-        Collaborates with the PeopleSoft domain architect ensuring that all PeopleSoft Human Resources solutions adhere to the company's architectural standards.

-        Seeks diverse ideas, perspectives, best practice and industry trends from a variety of sources (internal and external) to create better PeopleSoft solutions, products, and services.

-        Challenges the status quo as needed as it relates to PeopleSoft HR system infrastructure direction.

-        Exercises independent judgment with minimal direction from supervisor

-        Strong knowledge of computer software, such as SQL, SQL*Plus, SQL*DBA, PL/SQL, UNIX Shell
