The Bowie, MD location of ITT Exelis is providing engineering support to the Defense Spectrum Organization and DISA. We are in search of a Principal Data Architect. This position provides a unique opportunity for the properly motivated individual. The successful candidate has the potential to lead this community to significant efficiency gains offered by new approaches, and quickly become a leader and motivator for such transformations in the wider Department of Defense community.
The Principal Data Architect is a thought leader providing support in all aspects of our customer's data environment including leveraging subject matter/industry expertise, applying in depth knowledge of company goals and making a significant impact to future of our product technologies and business strategies. As a technical expert and authority within the industry, the Principal Data Architect applies leadership and advice on multiple technologies; develops industry-based solutions that help shape our clients technical vision and strategies, and provides strategic data solutions designed to meet ITT Exelis' business challenges.
• 12 or more years of relevant experience
• 10 or more years of industry experience working in design, implementation and management of enterprise data network systems
• 7 or more years of technical background in telecommunications, IT and/or the service provider industry
• Well versed in enterprise architecture/IT Strategies
• Broad understanding of data IT planning, architecting, engineering, and operations across multiple disciplines
• Ability to shape ITT and client technical vision and strategy
• Ability to provide strategic technical direction to solve customer's business problems
• Ability to mentor both business development and technical development staff
• Ability to develop TCO/ROI modeling for ITT's custom/complex solutions
• Ability to develop technical selling strategies for advanced technologies
• Extensive experience with Oracle 10g and above
A Masters Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics, MIS, Telecommunications, IT disciplines or Business Administration related field and 12+ years of directly related experience is required.
