Responsibilities
Job Purpose: The position of the Database Engineer will be responsible for maintaining Oracle 10g and SQL Server database environments supporting mission critical high availability database applications that operate in a 24/7 Internet environment. The ideal candidate will be independently driven, being resourceful to deliver results with minimal direction and have the ability to function as a team player and handle multiple competing priorities in a dynamic, fast paced environment. Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities may include:
Provide 24x7 support and maintenance of all Oracle 10g and SQL Server databases
Perform tasks to monitor the integrity of all Oracle 10g and SQL Server databases
Verify the health of all database backups and restores
Monitor the execution of all scheduled Oracle 10g and SQL Server jobs
Manage schema changes through all database environments
Troubleshoot development, test and production database issues
Assist with database design, performance tuning, and security setup
Perform data loads and database refreshes
Document all Oracle 10g and SQL Server processes and flows
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field required
Minimum 5 years of experience in database administration
Minimum 3 years of solid SQL Server 2005/2008/2008 R2 experience including SSIS and SSRS
3 years of solid Oracle 10g experience, RAC experience a plus
Experience working with the Solaris platform
Excellent PL/SQL coding skills and the ability to maintain complex stored procedures
Experience working with Windows Server 2003/2008 platform
Excellent T/SQL coding skills and the ability to maintain complex stored procedures
Experience with MySQL and SQL Server a plus
Experience with Embarcadero DBArtisan preferred
In depth experience installing, upgrading, configuring, and maintaining SQL Server database objects in development, staging, and production environments
Understand and have exposure to Data warehousing concepts and materialized views
Extensive experience in setting up and executing SQL Server disaster recovery plans using different kinds of backups, log shipping, and database mirroring
Skilled with automating tasks, scheduling and monitoring jobs, connectivity troubleshooting and server/DB security and auditing
Experience in database optimization and performance tuning, and setting up maintenance plans and jobs
Hands-on experience with Microsoft clustering, SAN, and physical storage organization
Experience with SQL Server Replication, DB snapshots, change tracking and data capture
Experience with compression software such as Hyperbac and SQL Server native compression
