ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Installing, configuring and upgrading DBMS (Database Management System) and Application servers in a Oracle RAC environment and related tools, creating primary database storage structures, offer assistance to developers in optimizing their applications, queries, etc.
- Participation in successful database upgrades, new data structures and leveraging upgrades and technical advances (new features, functions and methods) in new versions of Oracle Monitoring database environments, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks and issues.
- The assessment, management and installation of software patches to Oracle Applications in the production and development environments.
- Effective in troubleshooting, recovery, database refinement, installing software, resolving errors and failures, auditing activities, and resource utilization in a collaborative manner to support the advancement of enterprise applications, development teams and business units.
- Cross train other team members (developers and DBAs) in methods and procedures and provide on-site coverage of off hours support activities (both unscheduled/unplanned) and after hours planned activities scheduled in system maintenance periods.
- Work with business units in understanding of how they use the Oracle Applications. Make recommendations on more efficient use of Applications as it pertains to database performance.
- Well versed in current data modeling technologies and able to collaborate with technical teams to deliver technical products that meet the business needs. Harness current technical developments and be supportable in a manner to deliver uptime reliability within specific commitments. Other technical development and support as directed.
- Experience using Oracle Database and Applications on Linux/Unix Operating system with the ability to maintain users, printers, cron scheduler, file systems, logical volumes etc.
- Understands communication between SAN (Storage Area Network) and Linux Servers with the ability to create Logical Disk Drives and maintain their associated Logical Volumes and file system.
- Participates in the definition of project scope, objectives, methods, and procedures and other phases of planning and design.
- Participates in requirements definition studies, develops workflows of current and proposed system operations, collects and organizes pertinent system documentation, and develops system documentation.
- Participates in developing system external design specifications.
- Prepares database design specifications and creates and maintains database objects such as file groups, tables, views and indexes.
- Prepares programming specifications, codes and compiles SQL scripts, stored procedures and triggers; develops test plans, tests and debugs programs.
- Participates in development of implementation plans.
- Participates in post-implementation reviews.
- Performs operational Oracle database administration including installation, back-ups, and security.
- Provides status and activity reports; reports progress of assignments that may affect the outcome of the project.
- Identifies and resolves problems with production application systems.
- Keeps informed on new and emerging database and application development technologies.
- Support development, test and production environments, including maintenance of usernames and responsibilities and application security.
- Install and configure system and third party software packages and provide system and application support to all end-users.
- Provide support and troubleshoot issues related to Oracle Workflow, Discoverer, Noetix and Application Desktop Integrator (ADI).
- Provide expertise of development tools and relational database concepts.
- Monitor Concurrent Manager jobs and assess performance related issues.
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of information accessible on managed systems
- Monitor, manage and resolve incoming Service Desk calls.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Extensive knowledge with Oracle application database administration
- Knowledge of Oracle RAC and Weblogic
- Knowledge of Oracle Business Intelligence a plus
- Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines
- Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently
- Working knowledge of Oracle Concurrent Manager and associated maintenance
- Linux/Unix Operating System
- The incumbent must be flexible as there may be workweeks that require more than 40 hours to ensure the positions expectations and responsibilities are met.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other technical discipline preferred
- 5-7 years as a DBA or Systems Administrator in an enterprise environment
- Functional knowledge of Oracle Applications
ENVIRONMENT:
100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. Limited travel may be associated with education, seminars or special requirements.
