My client manages the global supply chain of agricultural and energy products, metals and minerals. It is a global company that manages a diversified portfolio of essential raw materials, integrating the sourcing, marketing, processing, financing and transportation of those materials. It also manages its own assets

The firm is seeking an Oracle DBA to manage the production environment their main office and be responsible for:

• Ensuring that databases are monitored and maintained to the highest standards

• Taking responsibility for data held within the managed databases

• Contributing to the strategic decision making process.

As well as having the relevant DBA skills, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an interest in the practical application of the role and should be willing to pick up new industry specific skills.  These would include gaining an understanding of the back office flow and the associated risk management and trade processing applications.

Essential Experience for the Oracle DBA:

                *              Oracle 11G Database Administration in a production environment.

                *              Backup and Recovery (RMAN and Dataguard)

                *              Performance monitoring and tuning

                *              Good working knowledge of Windows and Linux platforms.

                *              Experience of patching and upgrading databases.

                *              A BSc or MSc degree in a computing related field

Desirable Skills for the Oracle DBA:

                *              Oracle RMAN, Dataguard and Enterprise Manager

                *              Capacity Planning 

                *              Informix, MySQL

                *              Unix/Linux Shell scripting and MS DOS Batch scripting

                *              Configuration Management

                *              Good working knowledge of Microsoft SQLServer
