Oracle DBA Technical Team Lead - Gloucestershire - £40K-£45K Salary

Purpose of role:

To manage the Database Administrator team within the Infrastructure unit and to provide support for the Infrastructure Manager.

To provide technical support, maintenance and ultimate technical management for my client's databases and ensure that they are available 24x7.
To provide a business continuity and recovery service for my client's databases in accordance with business continuity plans.
To assist senior managers within Information Services in all aspects of project-planning and staff mentoring.

Essential Skills or Knowledge:

Extensive experience in a database administrator technical team lead role
Oracle DBA qualified.
Degree in a relevant computing discipline or equivalent experience
Extensive experience of Oracle database administration and SQL programming in a UNIX environment.
Excellent Oracle DBA skills - specifically for Oracle 10.2.0.4 and above.
Excellent SQL skills.
Working knowledge of UNIX.
Experience of project costing, project estimation, budgeting and devising training plans.
Involve staff, customers and stakeholders in the planning to gain commitment

Delegate appropriate workloads in line with individual accountabilities and technical capabilities. Identify opportunities for staff development/learning.
Mentor and coach staff in aspects of business, management technology.

Ability to build effective business relationships with key internal and external customers building and enhancing them over time.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to use initiative to analyse, identify and resolve complex problems, in particular on highly technical database issues.
Proven experience in database and table design and creation, stored procedures, triggers and query design and optimisation.
Extensive experience of Oracle server and client installations on both UNIX and MS Windows Server operating systems, and knowledge of Server Manager and Enterprise Manager.
IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) qualified to foundation level
Experience of using IT service management software for incidents, problems and changes
Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal) and the ability to deal effectively with management at all levels.
Exposure to data security issues including knowledge of ISO 27001
Experience of working in a Project Management environment (PRINCE2)
Experience of technical authorship and the maintenance of technical documentation (eg help text, test scripts, installation guides etc.).
