SUMMARY:
Report to the technical Team Lead, the job holder will be responsible for the development of data feeds and accurately sourcing and transforming source data for consumption by downstream applications. You will need to interact effectively with the IT management and business users globally and should have the ability to critically review, analyze specifications, and escalate problematic development requests.
Candidates for this position should hold the following qualifications and be able to demonstrate the following abilities to be considered as a suitable applicant. Please note that except where specified as preferred all points listed below are considered minimum requirements.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Participate in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL development, stored procedures and triggers
- Integrate data from multiple source systems into Oracle Database
- Optimization and tuning of existing PL/SQL stored procedures and packages as well as physical data model
- Communicate regularly and effectively with team members and supervisor
- Point out system or process problems when noticed and engage the team in problem solving
- Develop technical skills comparable to other developers
- Fill in for other developers as requested
- Takes responsibility for assignment completion and follow-through
- Provide high level of customer service
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers
- Facilitate satisfactory communication and resolution of problems
- Adhere to Newedge internal policies and procedures
Requirements:
- 5+ years hands-on experience of Oracle (including 10g, 11g) environment
- Experience in REF cursors, collections, and DBMS packages
- Highly skilled in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL development, stored procedures and triggers. Experience using REF cursors, collections, DBMS packages
- Solid experience in Oracle performance tuning - analyzing query plans and query tuning, partitioning, optimizer hints. Strong knowledge on Oracle Database administration issues (i.e. schema, user, and security)
- Proficient in Toad, Version Control tools (Tortoise SVN)
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, disciplined, professional, and a team player to multiple tasks at one time, in a fast paced environment handling multiple demands
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, ability to present and explain technical information
- Working knowledge of UNIX, Linux and Windows
Other knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- UC4/SSIS knowledge is a plus
- Data warehousing experience
- Large Oracle database experience ( 5 Terabytes)
- MS SQL Server and SQL programming experience
- Self-managing, in a fast paced development environment.
- Extensive knowledge of software development life cycle and accepted practices.
- Strategic and analytical thinking skills with an ability to solve problems and make decisions.
- Understanding of financial products. (Futures Options, FX, Fixed income, equities, etc).
Essential Functions:
- Uses expertise in appropriate techniques and tools to design, develop and maintain effective application software, reporting to technical lead.
- Participates to the development and implementation of standards related to the application development, security and system support activities.
- Performs formal and informal reviews of software development processes and products to ascertain quality and adherence to standards.
- Establishes and maintains control procedures for version control.
- Monitors and tracks quality related issues and problems through to resolution.
