The duties of the Securities Compliance (Market Abuse Unit-Market Structure/Order Routing Specialist) include:
- Develop and test market abuse hypotheses implicating current market structure and order routing practices.
- Design and develop new procedures and methodologies for detecting and investigating market abuses.
- Provide insight and advice concerning client-server architectures and network design as it relates to automated trade execution infrastructure, latency, co-location and message traffic routing and adjudication.
- Stay abreast of regulatory and rulemaking developments applicable to market structure.
- Provide expert advice and counsel on issues relevant to the identification and investigation of market and trading abuses, including Regulation NMS compliance, systemic regulatory violations, internal control violations, and other system-based or platform-driven trading abuses.
- Serve as primary consultant to unit staff on industry issues and trends that merit special evaluation by the SEC.
- Conduct, direct or participate in difficult and sensitive inquiries that are broad in scope with entities engaged in complex schemes, novel investment strategies or innovative trading practices.
- Develop, maintain and disseminate expertise, insights and understanding of developments in areas related to trading and market abuses.
- Populate the SEC/Unit Knowledge Base with expert insight that continuously shapes investigative strategies and tactics.
- Train investigative staff on potential abuses associated with securities trading practices.
- Participate in industry conferences and otherwise communicate with market participants to keep abreast of new trading strategies.
- Identify, deploy, and/or enhance tools and technologies that improve SEC/Unit detection and investigation processes and staff collaboration.
Required Experience:
You MUST be a US Citizen with at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS/SK-14 level that includessecurities industry background and knowledge such as working at securities-related firms including, Investment Banks, Hedge Funds, Investment Companies, Private Equity Firms, Research Firms, Broker/Dealers, and/or related entities; experience in Trading, Investment Banking, Portfolio Management, and/or Investment Research; experience trading, researching companies, acting as a member of a deal team; identifying, assessing, and resolving complex, novel and unique and specialized issues related to the securities industry; and superior interpersonal skills to interact effectively with industry executives and senior SEC officials.
