As a Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for executing packaging projects for Chevron Lubricants. You will be engaged in the design and specification of packaging materials for lubricating oils, fuel additives, engine coolants, and specialty products. The position will provide the opportunity to execute packaging initiatives that improve Chevron’s product lines, cost structure, and reliability. This position will work cross-functionally with operations, marketing, procurement, and suppliers and offers exposure to multiple levels of management.

Qualifications:

Position Details : Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Engaged in the design and specification of packaging materials for lubricating oils, fuel additives, engine coolants, and specialty products. Success includes leveraging supplier capabilities to develop all physical specifications and handling requirements related to packaging material in Americas Supply Chain.

  • Coordinates with Finished Lubricants Marketing to understand product requirements and creates designs to meet those requirements, preserving functionality and durability of packaging materials.

  • Coordinates with Procurement to manage the cost of proposed materials and specifications.

  • Maintains packaging specifications as developed and coordinates among proprietary and contract plants to ensure that specifications are met.

  • Maintains packaging Bills of Material (BOMs) for the network. Conducts operational and production testing of specified material prior to fielding.

  • Administers quality monitoring and assurance processes with packaging suppliers across the network. Serves as the subject matter expert for determining the causes of packaging related failures and recommending appropriate corrective action to proprietary plants and suppliers.

  • Coordinates supplier corrective actions across the network and leverages the Procurement group as necessary to manage supplier quality issues.

  • Plans projects using CPDEP and administers capital related to packaging equipment in conjunction with Plant and network engineers. Develops capital requirements necessitated by packaging changes and provides input to packaging project plans for development and fielding. Provides business case input related to project work for packaging material.

  • Trains packaging supervisors and operators in proprietary plants on packaging material and equipment, to include quality monitoring and reliability.

  • Develops programs to improve packaging reliability and efficiency and assists with plant continuous process improvement initiatives.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering
  • 5+ years of related business experience, including packaging or supply chain. Or an MS with 2 years' packaging experience.
  • Experience working with vendors and manufacturing operations highly desired
  • Proven analytical, project management, and leadership skills
  • Ability to provide technical support and trouble shooting to manufacturing facilities
  • Must be team oriented, self-motivated and customer focused
    Domestic and international travel required

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
  • Experience specific to consumer package goods supply chain
  • Demonstrated ability to drive packaging changes and packaging introductions
