The Packaging Technical Service Engineer we are seeking will not be required to relocate from their current location.  The position will require 50-75% travel Nationally.  The company is a multi market, multi division manufactured of engineered thermoplastics and extruded products used in all types of packaging including medical, cosmetic, electronic, automotive, industrial, chemical and specialty packaging products.  With sustainable growth comes opportunity for success. 

The Engineer for this role will have experience working for a plastic materials company producing Engineered Thermoplastics for packaging or a Plastic Packaging Manufacturer serving the food and consumer products markets.

In addition to the above requirements, candidates with the following skills will be considered.

1. Bachelor Degree In Polymers/Plastics, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or similar

2. Minimum of 5 years experience in Plastics/Polymers, with at least 3 years in plastic compounding or packaging.

3. Experience in thermoforming, extrusion and rigid packaging, shelf stable product packaging, barrier packaging, aseptic, retort or similar.

4. Experience communicating with customers and internal departments including RD, testing, production, supply chain and supporting Sales/Business Development with technical presentations.

5. Experience translating customer requirements into new product solutions.

6. Working with the stage gate process from inception to delivery.

The selected individual will be based in a home office set up with laptop, blackberry, corporate credit card and required office tools.  Your responsibility will be working on new projects from supporting sales and business development teams to translate customer needs into product solutions.  This will include materials selection, product design and development, testing, scale up to production, color matching, and the full stage gate development process. 

Your responsibility will require extensive customer interaction to be the technical liaison between the customer and the plant.  You will track project status, assist the design team in developing product solutions that dominate packaging markets.  Your role will involve support in develping quotes, including price and manufacturing process.

You will also assist marketing and business development to perform market research and value propositions.  You will work closely with all levels within the plant as new products are moved into commercialization.
