JOB DESCRIPTION:
Overview:
Provides quality packaging of manufactured products for the next process customer in accordance with predetermined production schedules
Responsibilities:
Packaging Technicians are primarily assigned to; automatic card welders, Jones, IWKA, Uhlmann, Cam, and Klockner cartoners, Klockner, FMC and Cavana flowwrappers, thermoformers, walleting systems, Paker bundler, Trankner stacker, and the auto index sealer. Packaging Technicians can also be assigned to lower level responsibilities on an as needed basis.
Operates above listed equipment is responsible to insure proper machine operation and responds to machine faults and alarms in order to properly address conditions and seeks additional assistance when needed.
Visually monitors packaging equipment operation in order to identify problems and defects and to ensure that product is correctly packaged.
Reviews Line Board in order to ensure that it is correct and matches master and to obtain an overview of
the job. Includes generating pick list from RenCS.
Inspects product on packaging line in accordance with special inspections.
Maintains records and logs during entire packaging process by entering appropriate information in order to document packaging process and reconcile usage of materials and transfers of product.
Performs and documents in-process quality checks on a periodic basis on representative samples in order to ensure that product is correctly packaged.
Cleans, disassembles, and reassembles line equipment, performs B and C cleans, uses cleaning solution, vacuum, and compressed air in order to prepare machine for inspection and for next packaging run.
Performs line staging by obtaining necessary parts, product, components, printed material, etc. and bringing them to the line.
Changes over/sets up machine for run by loading product, components, printed material, etc.; adjusting settings; checking the line; and obtaining line clearance in order to prepare equipment for next packaging run.
Performs limited manual packaging duties by setting up jobs; running the operation, and performing regular visual checks.
Troubleshoots and PMs the equipment listed above by identifying and correcting problems using equipment guides and/or notifying Mechanic in order to resolve operational problems.
Trains other Packaging Technicians by explaining and demonstrating procedures, observing and assisting with work, and providing oral feedback to ensure that employees perform job duties correctly and efficiently.
Other necessary requirements- must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time, demonstrate good manual dexterity, and be able to safely wear PPE including Respirators
Performs the above and other duties as assigned by supervision -while adhering to Company and Packaging Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP's) and Occupational Safety Hazards Association (OSHA) safety guidelines
Qualifications:
-High School Diploma or equivalent required
-expect a min. of 3 yrs light industrial / machine operation exp., prior experience within a GMP industry preferred
-Demonstrates manual dexterity with respect to the finished product
-Demonstrates the ability to read and understand packaging order instructions
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of all required SOP's, cGMP's and company policies
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with regards to machine set up, operation and trouble shooting.
-Communicates effectively with various levels of company personnel in a team environment
-Able to identify, communicate and address, non-conformances, operational issues and related challenges within the packaging department.
