Paralegal IV
A Paralegal IV performs, but is not limited to the following duties:
- Assist attorney, in all phases of Affirmative Civil Enforcement investigations and trials
- Seeks information and locates new sources of information in aid of Affirmative Civil Enforcement investigations and trials through contacts or correspondence with other departments and agencies of federal, state and local government, witnesses and counsel for defendants
- Gathers factual material independently; reads, annotates and summarizes transcripts, files and other factual aspects of the case; obtains financial and statistical information, agency records, court records and other public records; analyzes documents and drafts factual memoranda
- Assists in preparing discovery requests and organizing and analyzing discovery responses
- Performs specialized legal factual research
- Responsible for organizing and processing large quantities of records, data and discovery documents
- Responsible for preparing numerous exhibits for trial
- Provides automated litigation assistance to attys in trial preparation and courtroom presentations
- Performs other duties as assigned
A Paralegal IV must meet the following qualifications:
- Possess a paralegal certificate, or commensurate experience, skills and knowledge required for the position
- Health care fraud experience a plus
- At least three years of paralegal experience required including some litigation, financial and compliance related experience
- Supervisory and project-management experience required
- Proficiency in analyzing, interpreting, understanding and communicating the basic and particular applicability of various regulatory, financial, organizationsl, and program structures and requirements
- Sound working knowledge of legal system, legal research procedures, and sources of information
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, analytic ability, and thorough knowledge of legal research tools
- Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, database, spreadsheet, and telecommunications
- Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure
