JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and professional paralegal to support activities associated with Leupold’s trademarks, patent filings and claims as well as supplier and customer contracts. The selected candidate will research patent and trademark law as it applies to Leupold’s product portfolio, investigate potential new patents and trademarks, research design and copy write issues and draft legal documents and various correspondence. Other responsibilities include oversight and review of all major company related contracts and purchasing agreements. This position will work closely with our CFO, Director of Engineering and will serve as the primary liaison with outside counsel. The right candidate will also collaborate cross-functionally to provide support within their areas of expertise.

 
QUALIFICATIONS

·         Paralegal certification with 5+ years patent/trademark experience

·         Strong knowledge of patent/trademark law and the latest developments in rules and legal decisions. Ability to understand product portfolio and sales and marketing strategies, and legal implications

·         Experience with the patent and trademark process, organizing patent and trademark portfolios, trademark maintenance and docketing procedures

·         Experience with product licensing agreements with an understanding of necessary protections and potential pitfalls

·         Experience with drafting non-disclosure agreements

·         Advanced research skills. Experience with records, legal, and contract research

·         Prior international patent and trademark experience and knowledge preferred

·         Excellent organizational, writing and communication skills

·         Strong analytical background and the ability to research solutions

·         Ability to work independently on many aspects of patent/trademark activity and interface with external counsel when appropriate on more complex issues
