Description

The paralegal will provide assistance and support to the Regulatory Enforcement area of the legal department, working with business lines, regulators, law enforcement and outside attorneys. The new paralegal will be employed in a professional capacity, working under the close supervision of an attorney manager. Assignments can be general or specific with some to moderate decision making latitude within defined and sanctioned (delegated) parameters.

Specifically, the paralegal will track, manage and handle multiple tasks on a variety of regulatory and law enforcement requests which vary in complexity and scope. Daily tasks include responding to phone calls from law enforcement; processing and uploading incoming subpoena matters on the group's electronic matter management database; working with the business lines to collect items requested by law enforcement; and following up with business lines regarding outstanding requests. Effective written and oral communication, attention to detail and timely recognition of escalation points are key. In this regard, the paralegal will be relied upon to flag abbreviated deadlines or extraordinary requests for attorneys; track incoming responses from business lines; and ensure that production requests are met.

Qualifications

A paralegal certificate from a business school, college or university, or for Corporate Secretarial Services only equivalent work experience (up to 3 years) is required. Experience as a paralegal will be in a corporate, government or private legal firm environment. Strong analytical skills; proven oral and written and communication skills; foundation in planning and organizing; foundation in problem analysis/solving skills; demonstrated ability to deliver precise and timely work products; ability to demonstrate initiative and high work standards; ability to manage multi-tasks and stress are essential.
