Paralegal Manager

 

Biodynamic Research Corporation, a fast paced consulting and research firm headquartered in San Antonio, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Paralegal Manager.

 

As the Paralegal Manager, you will be responsible for managing and supervising the paralegal department as well as maintaining a personal caseload with respect to reviewing and summarizing file materials.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

 

!    Managing operations, productivity and performance of the department including quality, cost-effectiveness and timeliness of work products, preparation and management of departmental budgets, goals and controllable costs, and attitude of the employees.

!    Supervising employees within the department including maintenance of attendance and performance records, timesheet and expense review, preparation of employee performance appraisals, coordination of training of new employees, etc.

!    Attaining personal and departmental billable hours goals, excluding write-offs, through management of the assigned caseload and billable hours.

!    Assigning new files to Paralegals with consideration of target caseloads, primary and secondary consultant group assignments, matter-related deadlines, Paralegal experience levels, on-the-job experience development opportunities, etc.

 

Qualifications include:

·        Minimum of Associate in Applied Science in paralegal studies and/or American Bar Association approved certificate in paralegal studies required; Bachelors degree desirable.

·        Record of relevant continuing education.

·        Minimum of five years of paralegal experience in product liability, medical malpractice, or personal injury environments or equivalent experience required.

·        Minimum of five years of direct or directly equivalent supervisory experience required.

·        Personal computer skills including thorough knowledge of Word.

·        Ability to multi-task a must.

 

Founded in 1986, the focus of BRC is to analyze the human body’s response to forces or other potentially harmful factors, in order to determine if or how injuries were caused.

 

This process is recognized in the scientific community as Injury Causation Analysis and applies  to numerous types of traumatic incidents including, but not limited to, both high and low velocity passenger vehicle collisions, slip and fall events, and accident events involving aircraft, bicycles, motorcycles, ATVs, boats, elevators, forklifts, tractor-trailers, trains, amusement park rides, power tools and light industrial equipment.

 

BRC has more than 80 full-time and part-time personnel performing or supporting a variety of professional service activities related to Injury Causation Analysis. These include physicians, most of whom also have engineering degrees, or who have a Ph.D. degree in engineering, technicians who have degrees in engineering, Nurse Analysts, Paralegals, Visual Communications professionals, Research Librarian, and Research Technicians, as well as various administrative support professionals.
