Paralegal - Real Estate

Responsible for performing all paralegal/legal assistant functions supporting the operations of the Legal Department.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and prepare documents for execution and assist in the closing of transactions.
  •  Prepare corporate minutes and corporate documents such as certificates of incorporation, bylaws, stock ledger books, stock certificates, secretary's certificates, etc.
  • Negotiate estopped letters and subordination, non-disturbance and adornment agreements with landlord's and lender's counsel.
  • Assist in preparation of presentations using Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Conduct simple legal research and prepare memoranda.
  • Make statutory corporate filings. 
  •  Record real estate documents in real estate records office.
  •  Conduct UCC searches and filings.
  • Prepare Memoranda of lease and other real estate documents, tax reports and affidavits.
  •  Assemble and file litigation pleadings.
  •  Prepare responses to discovery requests.
  •  Prepare closing statements and closing binders.
  •  Maintain databases of real estate records including, among others, deeds, lease memoranda, subordination, non-disturbance and attornment agreements, UCC filings, etc.
  •  Assist in special projects as necessary.
  •  Enter records and matter descriptions into Lawtrac database.

* Paralegal certificate required.
* Minimum 2 - 3 years experience preferred.
* Corporate legal experience preferred.
* Microsoft Office skills/experience.
* Ability to work efficiently, prioritize tasks, organize documents and files, collect information and project a warm and friendly manner in all business contact while maintaining a professional relationship with fellow workers and the public generally.
* Ability to maintain organized records.
* Ability to read, count and write proficiently and accurately to complete all documentation assignments.
* Physical ability to move and store files, which entails some lifting, and perform all functions as set forth above.
* Ability to work a full-time schedule
* Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Real Estate experience. Prefarably in shopping center leases.
