Paralegal/Legal Assistant Job in Lakewood, Colorado US

Provide paralegal support to the Office of General Counsel (OGC) including supporting the Intellectual Property (IP) section of the office, and assisting the General Law section with processing outstanding Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.

Duties with the General Law Section include: Review documents to identify and mark financial and other data contained in the applications that is subject to exemption from release under the FOIA, using Adobe Acrobat redaction tools. Processing and reviewing notifications to submitters of FOIA requests, and downloading and assembling PDF packages of applications.

Duties with the IP Section include: File correspondence and documentation pertaining to intellectual property in their respective files. Monitor, track and identify IP related correspondence and documentation associated with patents, trademarks and copyrights. Support special tasks that may include developing spreadsheets to reflect historical IP costs and other information. Assist in the review of publications and presentation materials for legal clearance. Review employee outside employment requests to ensure compliance with laboratory conflict of interest policies. Review and proofread a variety of documents. Work directly with and take direction from other paralegals and attorneys in the OGC. Draft letters and other documents as requested by the attorneys. Perform other duties, as required and as assigned. This position is responsible for paralegal related activities for the Office of the General Counsel.
