PART-TIME SENIOR BUYER - Theale, Berkshire
SUPPLY CHAIN/OPERATIONS MANAGER

FLEXIBLE HOURS - SALARY £ 30K - £ 35K PRO - RATA

PERMANENT POSITION - BASED IN READING

My client is looking for a high quality individual capable of significantly developing the current level of operation to help them with their ambitious growth plans. Ideally the Company would like to recruit an individual to work part time as this reflects the current level of work expected. RESPONSIBILITIES
*Improve overall effectiveness of procurement and material management to service the needs of customers, suppliers and colleagues.
*To ensure that the following criteria are adhered to for all products procured by the Company:
*Correct products are purchased as required.
*Products are purchased at an acceptable cost.
*Products are purchased in the correct quantity.
*Products are delivered as per the Company's/Customers defined targets.
*Devise new procedures/systems reflecting the changing requirements of the Company, to enhance the competitiveness of the Company.
PROCUREMENT
*Devising a procurement and material control strategy which reduces "total cost of ownership". This includes devising and implementing strategy/policy/procedures for determining place of manufacture (UK or Far East).
*Oversee the daily running of the MRP and ensure materials are purchased in good time to meet customer requirements.
PURCHASE ORDER PROCESSING/SUPPLIERS LIAISON
*Manage the order process: placement of orders on suppliers: scheduling, stocking etc
*Identify and monitor shortages. Progressing and chasing Suppliers to ensure deliveries on promised times.
*Reducing supplier lead times. Updating confirmations and amendments from Suppliers.
*Buy Price - update and maintain.
*Maintaining control on the frequency of shipment from Suppliers and fixing the times in the month. This will require regular updates and supplier interaction.
*Returns to Suppliers - initiate, monitor and control to completion.
Stock/Material Control
*Create new part numbers, update and maintain existing part numbers.
*Stock - Control and regulate to optimise levels and to achieve 6 stock turns per year.
*Minimise stock wastage and obsolescence. Stock Discrepancy - Investigate and resolve.
Sourcing
*Identify appropriate suppliers.
*Obtain component prices for new quotations in a timely manner.
*Negotiate MOQs lead times and carriage costs.
Freight Forwarding - In conjunction with the Purchasing Controller
*Ensuring that the company receives optimum service from FF at competitive prices.
*Investigate, locate and negotiate contracts with FF. Interface with Suppliers FF as required.
