The Patient Account Representative is responsible for all billing, collections and account reconciliations for all assigned accounts.
· Maintains and complies with audits, HIPAA, best practices and internal controls.
· Manages assigned patient accounts in a timely and accurate manner, meeting departmental productivity requirements.
· Effectively accesses and utilizes pertinent information via hospital specific Patcom reports.
· Demonstrates knowledge of billing, collections, financial classes and payor sources.
· Adheres to federal, regional, state, local and contractual regulatory requirements.
· Responsible for supporting all documentation, distribution and archiving requirements

Education, Training and Experience
- High School Degree or GED preferred
- Two years of previous office billing and collection experience preferred
- Knowledge of UB, 1500 claim forms, CPT codes, CPC codes and ICD-9 codes
- Strong knowledge of third party payors
- Working knowledge of Excel
Physical Requirements:
- Good visual acuity and ability to communicate.
- Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds. Reasonable assistance may be requested when lifting, pushing, and/or pulling are undertaken which exceeds these minimum requirements.
- Ability to withstand prolonged, sitting, computer and telephone usage.
