The Patient Care Attendant provides one to one or constant observation in order to balance protection and treatment to assigned patients. He or she will monitor patient behavior, reduce environmental hazards, manage impulsive or destructive behavior and provide reality orientation. The PCA may also assist with activities of daily living under the direct supervision of clinical staff assigned to the patient.
