Payroll Accounts Assistant

My client is an interesting and eclectic family-run group of companies on the outskirts of Peterborough / Stamford (you must have your own transport to get to site, their offices are not on a public transport link).  

We are looking to recruit a payroll assistant with some experience of more general accounts into this varied and busy job.  Typical duties will include processing weekly timesheets for almost 200 staff and running the monthly payroll for 20.  An ability to calculate NIC and PAYE from scratch is essential to this job as well as the usual ability to work to strict deadlines and timescales.  As this is a job within a small accounting team, you will also have responsibility for purchase ledger duties (coding and inputting invoices, checking for manager approval and raising cheques) and a little petty cash work.

The ideal applicant will be able to demonstrate experience and confidence in payroll and purchase ledger but will also be able to manage their own workload, be able to self-motivate and self-prioritise and be able to work unsupervised in a small but busy team and company.
