TMX Finance is growing and currently seeking an experienced Payroll Director! The Payroll Director will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the payroll department to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee's pay. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader coupled with expertise on all payroll processes, procedures and timekeeping systems.
Responsibilities:
- Manages the activities of a large multi-state centralized payroll department in carrying out responsibility for payroll preparation/processing for 5000 plus employees
- Manage and coach a payroll team of 3 with the intent to grow the staff
- Serve as a senior level liaison between payroll and senior leadership across multiple departments
- Help to develop and manage overall department strategy to increase efficiency and effectiveness through process improvements
- Act as escalation point for the field employees to resolve day to day issues
- Manage and support payroll related audit
- Maintain SOX compliant environment
- Effectively communicate to senior level management as well as subordinates
- Write and maintain documentation for all payroll department policies, processes and procedures
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business is required
- Payroll Certification is required
- Minimum 10 years of payroll management experience
- Management experience over a staff of at least 5 is required
- Self-motivated with experience identifying and driving process improvements
- Leadership skills to build and develop a growing team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to provide great customer service to all levels of the organization
- Experience with outsourcing arrangements (ADP) preferred
- Experience with large multi-state and hourly employees
- Solid technical knowledge of payroll laws and regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

- Cognos Experience
