Payroll Manager Job in Alpharetta 30009, Georgia US

The Payroll Manager will manage the payroll process, providing guidance to the shared service payroll group on PeopleSoft payroll features and functionality. This position will review/update policy and procedures administered by the payroll department to ensure that they are optimized for use with the PeopleSoft application and align with Kaplan business needs.

Responsibilities include:
- Manage the payroll group located in Alpharetta, providing guidance and oversight on PeopleSoft payroll features and functionality
- Examine organization of payroll processing tasks and responsibilities to maximize the efficiency of each team member
- Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are accurate and timely
- Provide outstanding payroll customer service support to all Kaplan employees
- Develop policy and procedure documentation for payroll functions. This will be done in conjunction with updating all SOX documentation, as needed, for the Kaplan payroll.
- Develop metrics by which to measure payroll team performance and determine areas of improvement
- Participate in testing newly applied PeopleSoft tax updates and/or PeopleSoft patches/bundles pertaining to payroll and time labor
- Coordinate automated time labor system updates and modifications
- Troubleshoot time entry problems and reconciling discrepancies with various incentive, deferred, or other payment processes
- Manage special projects that focus on automation of manual processes and examination of PeopleSoft functionality to ensure it is properly aligned to Kaplan business requirements.

Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Human Resources or related field
- 2+ years of PeopleSoft HCM payroll processing experience
- 5+ years experience processing full cycle multi-state in-house payroll in a large (10,000 employees) payroll department
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in a large volume payroll department
- Demonstrated ability to manage, develop staff and to work as a team member
- Ability to work on both large projects as well as smaller initiatives, meet tight deadlines and successfully prioritize multiple tasks and customers in a fast paced dynamic environment
- Solid understanding of payroll and time labor processes
- Understanding of current laws and regulations and applying law or regulation changes to current payroll processes. Working knowledge of payroll tax and wage garnishments compliance.
- Experience with time labor system administration and related multi-state compliance
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
- Detail oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills
- Must be on-site (M-F from 9am to 6pm)
- FPC or CPP designation desired
