A national award winning Construction Company is seeking to fill a long term contract position for the Payroll Manager in its busy corporate office in the southeast metro area. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to interact with all levels of management. Working knowledge of taxable and non-taxable wages, work codes, general ledger, ability to work well with others, and strong detail orientation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Responsible for all hourly payroll functions for up to 400 employees in multi-state locations.
- Processing weekly payroll using Viewpoint Construction Software including preparation distribution of paychecks, new hires, rehires promotions, transfers, terminations, income and company taxes, benefit adjustments, garnishments and child support withholdings, etc. Miscellaneous data entry as needed.
- Manage payroll taxes, deductions and benefits for both union and non-union plans including preparation of returns and accounting spreadsheets.
- Provide quality customer service to employees and external customers.
- Responsible for controlling timely and accurate payroll through internal controls.
- Maintain permanent record retention process.
- Balance and ensure accuracy of multi-state tax reporting.
- Payroll reconciliations and audit functions.
- Respond to associate questions regarding their paychecks and provides customer service to resolve issues.
- Must be able to prioritize and research payroll issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This position requires a team player who has strong communication, customer service, organizational, clerical and accounting skills. Stable work history in a payroll position, bookkeeping, multi-state payroll, tax reporting, light typing and 10-key by touch required. Construction Industry experiences a plus. Should be detail oriented, organized and able to work with limited supervision with the ability to follow through on projects, prioritize and multi-task.
