PAYROLL SPECIALIST Job in Saint Louis 63143, Missouri US

Leading Spirits, Wine and Beer distributor located in St. Louis, MO has an immediate opening for a full-time Payroll Specialist. 

 

The Payroll Specialist is a payroll professional with an advanced understanding of payroll practices. This position will support and receive direction from the Payroll Manager. This role will be responsible for entering payroll hours and earnings from multiple sources and managing the Kronos time and attendance system. This includes timely semi-monthly and monthly processing for 600+ employees at 5 locations state wide. This role will also be responsible for various monthly reporting and auditing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Managing the day-to-day operations of payroll through the Ceridian Payroll System. Timely input of employee hours and earnings from various sources.  Imports, Kronos Time and Attendance, and manual payments submitted to payroll.

·         Responsible for the transmission of the semi-monthly and monthly payrolls to Ceridian.

·         Assist employees, managers and system users with day-to-day time card questions/issues with Kronos Timekeeper system.

·         Handles communication with St. Louis (Teamsters Local 688), Kansas City (Teamsters Local 955) and Central States Pension including, but not limited to issues of pension, dues and tenure reports.

·         Collect mileage reports and Proof of Insurance each month in accordance with the Major Brands auto allowance policy.

·         Manage all wage attachments including bankruptcies, child support and creditor garnishments.  Responsible for completing all interrogatories timely.

·         Assist in resolving paycheck issues. Research, validate, and correct employee data in the payroll system, while delivering a high level of customer service.

·         Responding to all Verification of Employments for the state in a timely manner.

·         YTD/QTD and Monthly Compensation and Sales reporting and analysis with data from Ceridian using excel.

 

Education and Experience:

·         High school degree or equivalent required, some college preferred.

·         3-5 years recent payroll processing experience in multi-location environment.

·         Basic knowledge of payroll taxes (local, state and federal). Basic knowledge of garnishments (tax levy’s, bankruptcies, creditor, and child support).

·         Experience with Ceridian HR/Payroll Web and Kronos Workforce Timekeeper preferred but not required.

·         Strong work ethic – must be able to work well with moderate supervision, handle multiple tasks in an organized manner and meet strict deadlines.

·         Superior problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills are required.

·         Operates with a “service oriented” mindset when approaching responsibilities.  Demonstrates a high willingness to “assist” others regardless of their level in the organization or their personal skill set/competencies.

·         Excellent mathematical aptitude, strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, advanced skill-set preferred.
