Payroll/Benefits Associate Job in New York 10011, New York US
Working under the direction of the Payroll Benefits Administrator, the position’s main responsibilities are timely and accurate processing of payroll, maintenance of Payroll records and timely response to internal and 3rd party inquiries, requests and requirements.
The successful candidate will work with various members of the Human Resources and Corporate Accounting Department in a fast paced and dynamic environment. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in a broad range of challenging projects that will broaden his or her scope of responsibilities and expertise.
Responsibilities
- Perform most phases of the payroll processing cycle in an accurate and timely manner:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees at multiple locations.
- Enter new hires and maintain and update employee database such as status change, benefit and other payroll deductions and termination.
- Ensure timely and accurate export of approved timecard data from time and labor management software into payroll system.
- Prepare and process off cycle payroll calculation for manual checks as needed.
- Prepare standard and ad-hoc payroll/benefits related reports for internal and 3rd party use.
- Perform checks and balances such as combo edit checks for valid campus and department combinations and allocations.
- Participate in preparing the Labor analytics and analysis reporting.
- Assist Supervisor in responding to employees and Management’s inquires and requests.
- Comply with multiple states and local regulatory standards.
- Maintain payroll records, reports and documents.
- Assist in ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as needed.
Required Skills:
- Knowledgeable in effective utilization of time labor, HRIS and payroll software
- Could strictly comply to confidentiality requirements and standards
- Solid knowledge of payroll regulations and compliance to audit standards
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge in Excel
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Could interact effectively with other employees from various level of the organization
- Could professionally and effectively manage stressful situations
- Professional, highly motivated, a team player and with excellent work ethics
- Must be flexible with working long hours if needed
Required Experience and Education
- 3 to 5 solid years of work experience in multi-state payroll processing and benefits administration
- Intermediate to advanced experience in handling Payroll related software, preferably ADP
- Bachelor Degree equivalent preferably HR and / or Accounting
