PCB Designer Job in Lewisville 75056, Texas US
We currently have an opening for a PCB Designer/Drafter for our client located in Lewsiville, TX. This is a contract to hire position. In this role the PCB Designer/Drafter will be responsible for PCB electro-mechanical design, drawing, and documentation packaging consistent with the product mission profile. Also responsible for ensuring a manufacturable design or “design for assembly”.
Essential Duties Responsibilities
- Draft detail and assembly drawings of design components, circuitry and printed circuit boards, using computer-assisted equipment or standard drafting techniques and devices.
- Preparing complete and accurate PC Board layouts and printed circuit board "PCB Drawings"
- Responsible for creating and modifying detailed drawings of printed circuits (layout) and electro mechanical systems.
- Use related computer aided drafting equipment and other software to prepare schematic diagrams, block diagrams, control drawings, logic diagrams, integrated circuit drawings, and interconnection diagrams.
- Check design layouts and detailed drawings against product standards and PCB standard knowledge.
- Consult with engineers to discuss and interpret design concepts, and determine requirements of detailed working drawings.
- Examine electronic schematics and supporting documents to develop, compute, and verify specifications for drafting data, such as configuration of parts, dimensions, and tolerances (if appropriate).
- Compare logic element configuration on display screen with engineering schematics and calculate figures to convert, redesign, and modify element.
- Locate files relating to specified design project in database library, load program into computer, and record completed job data.
- Performs failure analysis of PCB electronics and reviews documentation for compliance with specifications
- Optimizes PCB manufacturing yield - focal point to drive PCB manufacturing to target levels, interfacing with engineering, and test to implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate the PCB prototype building process and ensure proper feedback (Prototype Build Report, Testability, Procurability Analysis) are given to the design team and other related departments.
- Participate in design activities and physical implementation of the functional design.
- Review work orders and procedural manuals and confer with vendors and design staff to resolve problems and modify design.
- Review blueprints to determine customer requirements and consult with assembler regarding schematics, wiring procedures, and conductor paths.
Qualifications
- Moderate to Advance knowledge of electrical system design (PCB) and design qualification methods; all phases of PC Board design fabrication drawings and schematic diagrams; electrical circuit board assembly drawings and placement; mechanical board assembly drawings and placement; knowledge of contract manufacturer processes and practices; routing requirements including critical routes; and knowledge full post processing on documentation
- Autodesk Software | Microsoft Office | Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to read and interpret diagrams and drawings from engineering team
- Can function independently and in a team
- Strong decision making
Education/Experience
- Associate’s Degree in Engineering and/or Technical CAD design.
- 5 years in electro-mechanical board manufacturing and electrical board design and assembly
- 5+ years of experience and proficiency using PCB layout tools such as Cadence Allegro, AutoCAD, PCAD and PROTEL or related software.
