Primary Function:

The basic function of the Sales Associate is to drive profitable sales growth and attract and retain customers by delivering exceptional service.  This will be accomplished through development of a positive and productive retail-selling environment that ensures premier customer service.  The essential functions of this position include the following:

 

·         Drive profitable store sales by fostering a retail selling culture and by practicing/role-playing effective retail sales skills, (specifically G-U-L-E-C).

 

·         As approved by state law, fill ophthalmic eyeglass prescriptions and fit and adapt lenses and frames, utilizing optical prescription

o    Evaluate prescription in conjunction with visual requirements

o    Recommend specific lenses, lens coatings and frames

o    Assist in selection of frames, according to style and color, coordinating frames with Optical measurements and prescription

o    Measure guest’s bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance pupillary distance and optical centers using millimeter rule

 

·         Ensure high quality/timely product manufacturing/fabrication as measured by:

o    Accurate input of prescription and eyeglass order/instructions

o    Verify finished lenses are ground to specification

 

·         Dispense quality product

o    Heat, shape or bend frames to adjust eyeglasses to fit

o    Instruct customer in adapting to, wearing, and caring for eyeglasses

 

·         Assist with merchandising and presenting stores, according to standards as measured by:

o    Compliance with plan-o-grams and assisting with implementation of approved marketing programs.

o    Compliance with visual appearance inside and outside of store (i.e., signage)

o    Maintenance of overall standards (i.e. cleanliness, housekeeping)

 

·         Performs additional responsibilities as needed or directed.

 

Position Requirements include:

·         Ability to grow sales through sales skills and accountability for sales results.

·         Ability to present and implement decisive and creative solutions to issues/opportunities to grow the business.

·         Ability to provide enthusiastic and concise communication to meet/exceed Guest expectations as well as foster positive and results-oriented Optical Team, Doctor and host relationships.

·         Demonstrated success in store merchandising and attention to detail.

·         Ability to manage priorities through adaptability, willingness to take calculated risks, and follow-up.

·         Licensure may be required in governing states.

·         2-3 years experience in a Retail Optical Department

·         Experience with personal computers preferred.
