SUMMARY
Provides business and systems support to application users of the PeopleSoft Financials products.
Responsible for developing, testing, and implementing application upgrades, updates, fixes and
enhancements. Uses working knowledge of the application tables and other objects to identify and solve
problems. Works with the client areas to identify and determine business needs and makes
recommendations for system and business process changes. Trains client areas on the usage of the
application, including reporting tools. Acts as a team leader in projects, becoming a system expert for
assigned applications. Provides guidance to the other analysts.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides technical and functional support for PeopleSoft Billing and Accounts Receivable modules.
Implements new functionality and business areas on PeopleSoft Billing and Accounts Receivable
modules. Creates business process improvements and issue resolutions using module experience and
strong development and coding skills. Designs and supports security changes to all aspects of the
PeopleSoft Financials system.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES
Design
• Demonstrates substantial knowledge of PeopleSoft application tables and other objects.
• Develop/design system requirements for business information systems.
• Identify design constraints, relationships, and integration points.
• Provide guidance in design changes, modifications, and enhancements to program features.
• Participate in database design and implementation.
• Translate system requirements into preliminary functional design specifications.
Development
• Demonstrates a strong knowledge of tools and can execute them effectively.
• Identify/solve technical problems applying established data processing techniques.
• Provide knowledge of file structure, access methods, and relationships/integration.
• Provide knowledge of utilities, tools, search methods, and I/O processes.
• Demonstrates proficiency in Application Engine, SQR/SQL, PeopleCode, Integration Broker and
other PeopleTools.
• Demonstrates proficiency in setup, customization, and administration of Application Workflow
Engine.
• Perform coding as required.
• Provide knowledge of multiple database platform concepts.
• Create and maintain documentation relating to assigned system development tasks.
Analysis
• Conduct analytical studies (i.e. feasibility, program logic, control flows, data).
• Review and document upgrade compare reports.
• Outline test strategy in accordance with standards.
• Develop testing plan.
• Perform and manage integration testing.
• Perform testing coordination.
• Evaluate system performance.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies, problems, and weaknesses in the system.
• Identify and integrate supporting analysis to define all aspects of system development.
• Demonstrates an awareness of how the application impacts the business areas.
Technical
• Keep abreast of major technical changes impacting Company/Finance/IS/PeopleSoft.
• Ensure documentation of system and programs is current and accurate.
• Coordinate activities between business areas, distributed systems areas, application support
areas and database administration areas. (PS Finance, IS, DBA, Finance Users)
• Ensure that system meets design specifications.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the business area functions outside the computerized areas.
• Trains users on system, demonstrating specific functions and capabilities.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
An undergraduate degree, preferably in Management Information Systems, Computer Science,
Accounting, Business Administration or Mathematics, is required. Equivalent position-related experience
may be considered.
Experience using the PeopleSoft Application(s) is required.
A minimum of two years experience as a PeopleSoft Developer is required.
Must be able to demonstrate effective oral and written communications skills as well as possess effective
presentation skills.
