What we are looking for?
The New York Blood Center is currently seeking a Per Diem Research Assistant I to work in the Erythropoiesis Laboratory at our Center East office of the LFKRI region of the New York Blood Center. The incumbent will;

·          Perform all aspects of research-related laboratory work and work closely with on areas related to erythropoiesis. He/she will be involved in studying mechanisms regulating differentiation, proliferation, and iron uptake during both murin and human erythropoiesis.

·          Laboratory techniques with which proficiency is necessary include PCR, gene expression arrays, ELISA, Western Blotting, HPLC, spectrophotometry, electropheresis, flow cytometry, fluorescent and light microscopy, and cell culture.

·          Knowledge of statistical methods is a plus. This does not exclude work on any future unrelated projects within the laboratory or with collaborators at the NYBC and other institutions.

·          The major purpose of the job is to assist in achieving the goals of the laboratory and the research institute.

Education:

BS, MS and/or PhD.

 

Experience:

2-3 years post-training experience. Candidate must be willing to work with mice.

 

Skills and Abilities:

Well organized with mature communication skills, able to trouble-shoot experiments, detail-oriented, with hands-on experience in the laboratory, Clinical Trials experience a plus, capable of handling multiple projects, self-motivated but able to work closely with PI in a team environment.
