Performance Analyst (I) recruitment
Job purpose:
• The performance team is responsible for the calculation and analysis of all Newton’s discretionary portfolios, ranging from private client portfolios to institutional pensions and charities, and retail products.
• The department’s main objective is to examine how investment decisions have impacted the performance of Newton’s portfolios and to report to fund managers and client services as well as ensuring portfolios with similar strategies are producing similar performance returns.
• The performance team also provide the information published in factsheets, datafiles, and on the Newton website.
Responsibilities:
- The calculation and analysis of returns at total, asset class and security level to determine why a portfolio has produced the performance it has.
- Regular analysis to include return comparisons against composite benchmarks, attribution down to stock level, as well as various ad hoc requests from fund management personnel as well as client services.
- To be able to communicate in-depth analysis to fund managers and client services in a clear and concise fashion
- Further development of PACE (the software used to analyse fund performance)
- To critique the fund data coming into the performance system from the accounting system (Quasar) to ensure that performance calculations are accurate
Person Specification:
• Knowledge of investment management and portfolio construction required.
• Numerically competent, with good communication skills (both written and verbal), required as explaining analytical reports to fund managers and client services will form a large part of the role.
• Applicants must be able to demonstrate an aptitude for systems, and have a good working knowledge of Excel.
• The ability to work to deadlines whilst maintaining a high level or accuracy is required.
• Applicants should possess good A levels and have prior investment industry experience
