Performance Manager (Investment Risk and Analytical Services) recruitment
The Head of EMEA Performance Measurement – Investment Risk and Analytical Services (IRAS) role is pivotal to the continued development of Northern Trusts image as a leading provider of Risk and Performance measurement solutions. This role has oversight of a “hybrid” client base made up of asset owners (pension funds and sovereign entities) who manage some or all of their assets they are responsible for inhouse. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and business management for this client base. This includes contributing to the development and management of the performance product as well as active participation in the sales, marketing and implementation efforts.
Principal Responsibilities
• Provide team leadership and business management for the EMEA Investment Risk and Analytical Services hybrid client business.
• Gain an understanding of the applications used and services available, understand the client’s requirements and future needs.
• Provide direction and input to product management regarding capabilities, efficiency and controls to deliver industry leading performance and analytical solutions.
• Engage with broader Northern Trust business leaders to develop strategies to maintain service quality.
• Participate in the continued development of Northern Trusts image as a leading provider of Risk and Performance measurement.
• Responsible for the financial management of EMEA hybrid client team budgets, planning and oversight.
• Participate and lead new business activities for the IRAS suite of services - demonstrating expertise, understanding of client needs and the ability to differentiate Northern Trust's solutions.
• Demonstrate competencies across a broad range of performance measurement topics and methodologies drawing from your experience with various operating models and the technologies that support performance and analytics teams. Have a working knowledge of portfolio management strategies, risk measurement solutions and asset owner and performance reporting requirements.
• Demonstrate expertise in a consultative and solutions oriented manner to various clients and roles - ranging from Trustee Boards to CIO/COO and performance /operations analysts.
• Ensure operational processes and efficiencies are maximised.
• Manage all aspects of the performance relationship with the client along side the relationship management team.
• Maintain an environment where people want to work, recognise quality, grow and deliver quality solutions to clients.
Skills / Experience
• Strong leadership with substantial experience of leading a performance team.
• Experience of developing performance, risk and/or compliance products.
• Proven track record of being a direct contributor to sales and marketing activities.
• Evidence of participation within the asset owner, asset management and/or asset servicing industry, writing industry/product/service related articles and generating discussion (white) papers.
• Experience of financial management of business units.
• Strong consulting, problem definition and solution delivery experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proven client relationship experience.
• Good knowledge of financial markets, investment instruments and portfolio management.
• Broad knowledge of performance methodology, including Equity and Fixed Income attribution.
