- In this senior level engineering role, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the development and/or application of products with significant impact on the Corporation through expert knowledge within assigned product/market area.
- Contributes to the creative process to discover and develop new product ideas or strategic product extensions, and for the translation of research discoveries into usable and marketable products.
- Plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception through introduction into the marketplace.
- Confers and interacts with Manufacturing to ensure product design meets manufacturing and/or procurement requirements.
- Develops and recommends value added solutions such as new technologies, cost reductions and/or quality improvements.
- Identifies critical problem areas, alternative solutions and potential consequences in the product development process.
- Leads testing and research efforts resulting in products that are certifiable and consistently meet and/or exceed customer expectations.
- Determine testing needs; develops new or improved testing designs, methods and or techniques.
- Performs project engineering work from design to implementation in accordance with the company's policies.
- Schedules and coordinates major segments of complex projects to meet cost and time objectives.
- Reviews design and documentation to ensure compliance with design criteria and standards.
- Conducts feasibility studies, determines manpower and cost estimates, and develops engineering criteria.
- Performs analyses to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems and components.
- Prepares or secures and reviews cost estimates, completes required cost and equipment information and writes appropriation requests.
- Creates formal test plans, conducts tests and documents test results in formal test reports for bench and aircraft level test.
- Investigates problems and requirements of projects, and develops plans for solutions in line with economic, personnel and environmental considerations.
- Influences the direction of future product developments or applications based on technical trends and platforms.
- Provides input and guidance concerning potential use and benefit of emerging technologies.
- Ensures compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and organization engineering standards.
This is a contract to possible permanent position.
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
- Fluent with SolidWorks 2011 or equivalent 3D solid modeling program.
- Fluent with FloWorks and StarCCM+ or equivalent CFD modeling programs.
- Minimum 5 years related professional engineering work experience the following aerospace areas:
- Gas turbine propulsion performance analysis.
- Bench and system level component test.
- Flight test
