Permanent – Intermediate DBA (SQL, Oracle, DB2, Sybase)

JOB SUMMARY

The DBA is responsible of the modeling of the data and the architecture of the database. He/she must participate actively in the development process of the systems. The DBA is responsible of all databases no matter what platform. He/she must assure that the data follows a secure and performing modeling plan. The DBA will implant a copy process and recovery plan for all the databases. The DBA will also train the whole team of development on the working and development methodologies related to the databases. The DBA also has to assure that all users comprehend the functions of every models.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Analyse users needs, conceptualize and models the data bases.
Produces logical and physical database models.
Maintain all enterprises databases.
Participation in the architecture of the systems to make a good positioning of the data bases.
Documentation of the models of the enterprise.
Standardize of the data models and the methods of development.
Training of the employees to use the new methods of development relating to the databases.
Monitoring of the data bases relative to their uses and their performance.
Revision of the code of the developers relative to their methods of accessibility of the databases.
Must handle the classification by size and the planning of the databases.
Configuration and parameter setting of the databases of the enterprise.
To establish a process of copies and recovery as well as the documentation of this one.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Fully qualified to execute job/role accountabilities working independently on most aspects of work.
May lead a work group or project team consisting of technical and support staff; looks to supervisor for substantial coaching on people management issues.
Begins to manage medium to moderately complex projects on time and according to specifications and budget; coaches and mentors others on project management issues that are supported by supervisor.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 3 years experience. This is an essential precondition to acquire a global vision of the systems.
Must have good knowledge of databases (Microsoft SQL, Sybase, DB2, oracle).
Has a very good knowledge of SQL
Has an experience with the modeling tools.
Must have an experience in modeling.
Must have a rather broad range of knowledge on the level of data processing (material, methodology, languages and standards).
Up to date with the new methods of developments as well as the market trends.
He/she will train the employees on the usage of the databases.
Must now different scripting languages (REXX, JAVA, CL)
