Easter Seals Massachusetts offers individuals with physical disabilities the chance to enjoy summer camp activities with able-bodied campers, including boating, archery, campfires, swimming and more. This year's camp sessions run from July 1st through August 8th, 2012. The camp is located at Agassiz Village in Poland, ME. Personal Care Counselors p rovide support and assistance to campers for activities of daily living as well as camp programming activities according to camper needs . PCC's will also be required to c ommunicate with understanding and respect to parents and campers of the program. Essential Functions : · Assist campers with daily needs such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and meals as well as camp activities throughout the day . · Ensure safe and inclusive participation in camp programming . · Assist campers in getting ready for the activities of camp on a daily basis. · Assist campers according to each camper ??s needs · Encourage campers to be as independent as possible · Encourage campers to participate in camp activities. · Support campers during difficult times (homesickness, difficulties participating, etc.) · Provide a positive camp atmospher e for campers. · Respond to campers ?? concerns and requests · Communicate pertinent information regarding camper status to the Inclusion Specialist. · Complete reports/journals · Maintain good relations with campers, camper ??s families, and other staff. · Be an advocate for the camper to ensure the most inclusive camp experience. · Perform job duties in a safe and sanitary manner. · Remain at camp facility while camp is in session and campers attending program. Qualifications : · High School diploma or GED or certificate of attendance . · Must be a minimum of 18 years old Preferred Experience : · Six months ?" one year of related work experience or any experience with people with disabilities in a personal or professional setting Physical Demands : · Must reside and work at camp location during camp sessions and training · Frequent communicating in person . · Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. · Frequent bending, twisting, walking on uneven terrain. · Variable hours consistent with camp programming . Environmental Conditions and Physical Surroundings : · Flexibility in work hours is required. · Outdoor environment and buildings consistent with an overnight camp facility. Equipment Used : · Office equipment such as computer, copy machine, fax machine, postage machine, telephone, and printer. · Responsible for providing own transportation .
