Petro Chemical/Oil-Recovery Scientist
Summary:
I am searching for a temporary Scientist to potential full time role with the Process Chemistry team. The Scientist will develop separation processes for scale-up to meet commercial production requirements. Activities/responsibilities will be process design/engineering and hands-on process development through lab pilot scale studies. You will work with/lead other team members in a multidisciplinary environment to design evaluate potential separation and recovery processes for our different renewable products. The candidate must have strong working knowledge of chemical engineering unit operations and hands-on experience with process equipment.
Duties:
· Design experiments, procure equipment, assemble custom lab-scale fixtures and apparatus, and report results and regular meetings
· Evaluate and develop purification processes in the lab using different separation techniques such as extraction, distillation, and adsorption to meet product specification and cost requirements
· Write process SOPs and perform safety and hazardous operability reviews
· Perform economic and feasibility analysis for process scale-up
· Perform analytical measurements (e.g., GC, HPLC) and coordinate outsourced sample analysis
· Track, organize, and analyze results from experiments performed
· Provide responsibility for individual and co-worker safety. Promote follow all safety procedures and policies
Qualifications:
· Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Process Chemistry, etc. 2-4 yrs. experience
· M.S. with 6-8 yrs. experience in a similar position
· Experience with process analytical modeling and use of chemical process modeling software (Aspen, SuperPro)
· Must be hands-on with extensive process development experience in lab or pilot plant environments
· Experience with DOE and data interpretation is a plus
· Team player with excellent analytic, communication, and presentation skills
· Must be able to travel 10-25% of the time
