Position Summary

Under close supervision of the Pharmacist or other supervisory/management-level position in the facility, obtains new prescription and/or refill information from customers such as name, address and health coverage. This position is categorized as compliance critical and, as such, requires and is assigned specific responsibility for ensuring continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate and regulatory requirements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Labels products, counts medications, stocks medication on shelves under Pharmacist's supervision, and assists customers on the telephone and in person.
    2. Retrieves, counts and measures drugs.
    3. Assists Pharmacist with the information required to consult with patients regarding medications or supplies prescribed, including dosage, frequency, specialized requirements and possible drug interactions.
    4. Assists Pharmacist in price checking and restocking of drugs.
    5. Accesses, inputs, and retrieves prescription information from computer.
    6. Assists pharmacist in maintaining the accuracy of the computer system data bases.
    7. Refers doctors' calls and customers' medical inquiries to Pharmacist.
    8. Performs related duties as assigned.
Experience and Education Requirements

Requires broad training in fields such as, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through a combination of experience and education. Normally requires a minimum of two (2) years directly related and progressively responsible experience; certified and/or licensed with a state or national technical certification organization as required by state and national statutes.
