PhD Chemical Engineer - Longview, TX

The Research Development organization at Texas Operations of Eastman Chemical Company has an immediate opening for a PhD Chemical Engineer willing to direct his/her strengths toward a wide range of petrochemical products and manufacturing processes. Chemical Engineers will work in a close-to-the process, hands-on environment to improve existing products and processes as well as develop new ones. Job Responsibilities include: Work with Operations, Engineering, and Research partners in teams or individually on projects to increase production capacity, improve product yield, provide safer operations, or reduce energy requirements. Work closely with site manufacturing technical staff and management to develop and prioritize portfolio of process improvement needs. Execute process improvement projects such as process modeling and optimization, energy reduction, yield improvement, waste minimization, etc. that will yield the highest return to the company in annual cost savings and/or increased revenue. Work with Engineering and Research on process synthesis for both new and existing products. Apply sound process economics analysis principles to determine and document project values. Maintain awareness and ties to corporate technology and engineering resources that may be used to help implement projects. Assist with definition and implementation of capital projects resulting in process improvement or increased capacity. Engineers must be willing to travel in support of Eastman locations. Good communication skills are required for communicating with operators, operations management, business partners, and other engineers and chemists.
