P erforms pediatric specimen procurement and other associated duties. Job Responsibilities: Performs blood collection procedures. Verifies order requests and identifying information prior to drawing blood. Labels all specimens collected; and delivers them to the Central Processing Area. Follows venipuncture control procedures and maintains appropriate log sheets. Completes test request entry and specimen receipt using lab computer. Assists in Central Processing Area accessioning and centrifugation tasks. Accurately communicates essential information to appropriate personnel. Actively listens. Promotes effective communication flow. Picks up and delivers specimens to appropriate areas. Picks up blood and other specimens from assigned areas and delivers to appropriate processing area. Picks up lab supplies and delivers to appropriate area. Maintains a customer service orientation; interacts in a pleasant, courteous and cordial manner. Participates in team discussions, provides problem solving ideas and completes quality improvement team goals. . Picks up specimens and delivers to appropriate areas. Picks up blood and other specimens from assigned areas and delivers to appropriate processing area. Picks up lab supplies and delivers to appropriate area. Assists in Central Processing Area accessioning and centrifugation tasks. Other duties as assigned. Education: High School Diploma or GED. Theoretical knowledge of phlebotomy practices required. Experience: Technical proficiency; standard procedures, techniques and common practices required. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Formal phlebotomy certification preferred. Physical Requirements: Requires frequent standing and walking. Visual acuity including the ability to distinguish colors.
