Skills Requirements

We expect to see:

Excellent coding skills and a track record of getting stuff done
Several years of back-end and database web development
Proven telecommuting skills: self-motivating, self-directed, and aggressively communicative, including the effective use of revision control, bug tracking, and IRC
3 or more years of professional PHP programming experience
Ability to read, write, and optimize complex database queries and schemas for performance
Ability to handle multiple concurrent activities and have a flexible, positive attitude
Experience in configuring and maintaining their own Linux-based development environment (setting up development web servers, installing the necessary components, etc.)
An understanding of how to separate development, testing, and production environments, and of how to safely deploy applications to production
Attention to detail

We'd like to see:

Strong practical knowledge of PHP5
Familarity with general Internet technologies including HTML, REST, Javascript, HTTP, CSS and sessions
Some full-stack web-development experience, including frontend, backend, and database
Knowledge of and experience with designing and implementing high-performance, highly-scalable systems

It would help if you had:

Understanding of third party APIs (e.g. Facebook, twitter, OpenSocial, Flickr, etc.)
Familiarity with building real-time and batch services that can be monitored and maintained with nagios, syslog, or puppet
