PHP Senior Developer (and Sports Nut?) at Varsity News Network (Indianapolis, IN; Grand Rapids, MI) (allows remote)

Job Description

We're looking for a Senior Developer interested in making an impact on high school athletes across the country.  Varsity News Network is a Michigan-based company creating technology to reshape high school sports media from the ground up, like ESPN.com for high school teams (check out an example at http://salinehornets.com/).  We believe in the power of storytelling, and we're creating technology to help fans tell the stories of local high school athletes.

We're a company comprised of 20 passionate makers and hustlers who believe in the disruptive impact technology can have on media.  Working within our tight-knit team, you won't have to worry about big company bureaucracy, and you'll have the opportunity to impact all aspects of product design, development and direction.

We are working primarily with PHP but have hired devs in the past who are able to toggle between different languages and learn new skills, so don't let language be a limitation. We are looking for  someone who is an extremely talented developer, but views him / her self as more than that.  You should care deeply about not only creating amazing products, but also about the impact that product has on real people.

Finally, we're a small company with a big footprint, as we have reps in Grand Rapids, MI, Cincinnati, OH, St. Louis, MO, Minneapolis, MN, Detroit, MI Indianapolis, IN, and are open to various locations.

What you'll be doing:

- Hand-code creative sports applications with an OCD attention to detail
- Create multi-site web applications using PHP, MySQL, and the LAMP stack
- Contribute to concept development and technical strategy with a multi-disciplinary team

Compensation:

- Great salary and benefits, of course.
- Free snacks at the office
- Tickets to development conferences and meetups
- A focus on personal and professional growth
