PHP Web Developer

Graduate PHP Developer – 6 month contract – DERBY – to £25,000 pro rata

We are looking for a PHP web developer for a 6 month contract role (fixed term) working for a successful growing company in Derby. 

The successful candidate will be developing and supporting mission critical enterprise software and providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance for clients. In addition to superior technical skills, the successful candidate will have excellent communication, time management skills and a high degree of initiative.

We are therefore looking for candidates that have a broad range of technical, commercial and inter-personal skills.

This role comes with the possibility of a contract extension according to company and employee performance.

Candidates must have the following:

·         Bachelor’s degree level qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other similar degree, minimum 2:2 classification

·         Sound knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming principles

·         A working knowledge of programming in PHP

·         A working knowledge of database systems and SQL

·         Effective communications skills and excellent client manner

In addition to the above you must be a natural team player as well as being able to work on projects alone and using initiative to solve problems. If you have experience working in small organisations or have even worked as a freelancer before, this will be a desirable attribute.

Desired attributes also include:

·         Experience specifically with the CodeIgniter PHP development framework

·         Experience with further technologies including Java, C#.NET and other programming languages

·         Experience working in software development teams

·         Experience of the software development lifecycle (waterfall and agile)

·         Experience of working on web applications software

·         Experience of server administration, notably using the Linux command line

·         Experience of working with and/or developing business processes including Quality Management

·         Current driving licence and own vehicle

Salary: £17,000 - £25,000 pro rata according to experience
